The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), also called National Open School, (renamed in 2002) is one of the premier Education Board under the Govt. of India. NIOS was established in November 1989 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of Indian Government. The main aim of NIOS is to provide education for the students and aspirants of rural areas to motive and increase the literacy and learning. The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) programme under NIOS is a specifically designed package for the teachers who are working but untrained for teaching their learners in primary/ upper primary schools of different states of the country. Under the initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) programme has been developed by the NIOS for enabling the target to enhance the develop skills, attitudes, competencies, understanding for teaching and learning with the more effective way.

Nios Dled Eligibility
The required minimum qualification to take admission into the D.El.Ed. Course for untrained teachers working at primary level (I-IV/V) at different states of the country is 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 (Senior Secondary) or its equivalent. A relaxation of the candidates for SC/ST/OBC/PH by 5% is admissible. Again, for the upper primary, i.e. class V/VI – VIII should have a B.A/B.Sc. Degree.
The Programme has been envisaged as a self-sustained programme. The programme fee is Rs.6,000 per year, so you Rs.12,000 per candidate for two years as per guidelines of the MHRD, Govt. of India under SSA.

Nios Dled Registration/ Admission 2017 – 2019
The Dled admission/registration for untrained teachers of the primary or elementary education for the session 2017-2019 have been closed now. Last year the registration for D.El.Ed was started on 16 August and continued until 15 September, which later further extended to 30th September 2017. The admission for the session 2018-2020 shall start from the month of July or August 2018 and will continue for a month.

Nios Dled Course Duration
The Minimum duration of the D.El.Ed programme is two years. From 2017 to 2019. However, the registration of a learner to the programme shall be valid for a period of three years.
The Study Centers under NIOS provides individual support to its learners. These are coordinated by the State itself.The Study Center Coordinator conducts the PCP (Personal Contact Programme) schedule, workshop, uploads attachments of PCP and workshop, Upload the TMA (Tutor Mark Assignments) Award and Practical Award.
The learners can interact with the Study Center Coordinator/ Workshop Coordinator, Assistant Study Center, Resource Person, Mentor, Supervisor and Peer groups, refer to books in the library and interact with the Coordinator on administrative and academic matters. The support services are also provided through work centers and programme centers as well.
The NIOS sends the study materials along with the assignments of the courses according to its course code number. They are the print materials in the form of blocks. Learners can get the study materials from each of the study centers or the NIOS official website. In case a student doesn’t receive those Study materials, the NIOS shall not be held responsible for that.
As per the course, learners shall receive the assignments (supplied along with Self Learning Materials) from its study centers. There are assignments in every theory course. Candidates or teachers should have to submit (not the sample one for official demonstration) their assignments to the concerned Study Center in accordance with the submission-schedule provided separately in the programme guide. Learners can also download the assignments from NIOS official website or obtain from the respective Study Centers.
All registered untrained teachers for the DElEd can submit the Examination Form online at dled.nios.ac.in using the teacher login details. No offline examination forms are accepted from the candidates. The examinations forms can be submitted at NIOS DElEd portal using the teacher login details.
The result o the examination is likely to be announced in 6 weeks after the last date of the examination. A copy of the relevant portion of the result will be communicated to the Accredited Institutions immediately after the declaration of results and you can also check result by visiting official site www.nios.ac.in.
